ABOUT DA MICHAEL ALLEN
Sworn in as 4th Judicial District Attorney on January 12, 2021, Michael Allen leads one of Colorado’s largest prosecution offices, covering El Paso and Teller counties from Colorado Springs.
A Colorado native and graduate of Arvada West High School, Allen enlisted in the United States Navy after high school, serving as an Aviation Electronics Technician until his honorable discharge in 1998. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas.
Allen joined the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in 2011 and was named Homicide Prosecutor of the Year in 2015 and again in 2017 before being elected DA. He won re-election decisively in 2024, defeating his opponent in the general election. In January 2026 he announced his candidacy for Attorney General of Colorado.
At the RMV Freedom Festival, DA Allen joins the Back the Blue Bash on Friday night to stand alongside Colorado’s law enforcement community.
